Two students from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Henschel Tabi Frempong-Manso and Benedict Ofori Debrah, have been recognized among the top three winners of the prestigious WAEC International Excellence Award for their outstanding performance in the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Henschel, from Kade Senior High Technical School in the Eastern Region, secured second place and is now pursuing a BSc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at KNUST after achieving A1 in all eight subjects. Benedict, from Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School, placed third and is currently studying BSc. Human Biology, also earning A1 grades in all eight subjects.
The two award-winning candidates were selected from 2,455,063 students who sat for the WASSCE across The Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone, recognizing their outstanding academic achievements.
The awards were presented at the 73rd Annual Council Meeting of The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), held from March 17 to 21, 2025, in Monrovia, Liberia.
Their decision to further their studies at KNUST is a testament to the university’s reputation for academic excellence.
Indeed, they have made the right choice by choosing KNUST as the next step in their educational journey.
